ANAL CANCER
  • it is a variant of epidermoid carcinoma

  • associated factors include:

    • anal fistula
    • male anal receptive intercourse
    • human papilloma virus infection
    • HIV infection

  • treatment is by using combined radiation therapy and chemotherapy (5FU and Mitomycin C)

  • in recurrent or resistant cases, radical surgical resection can be performed for salvage.

  • prophylactic lymph node resection does not add to the cure rate.
